Licensing & regulation
Use VestAccrue with confidence and transparency. The company carries out its activities in line with Canadian legislation and applies methods focused on operational transparency, data protection, information security and compliance with the regulatory requirements applicable to technology companies.
This page sets out, in plain language, the Canadian framework within which the platform operates: federal requirements for money services businesses, provincial securities legislation for crypto asset trading activity, and the complaint handling standards we hold ourselves to. It also says clearly what regulation does not do: it does not remove investment risk.

Regulation for the Canadian market
VestAccrue operates within the Canadian regulatory framework governing services related to digital assets and cryptocurrencies, including applicable federal requirements as well as the requirements of individual provinces and territories.
Registration and regulatory oversight in Canada
| Jurisdiction | Regulator | Registration / regulatory basis |
|---|---|---|
| Canada (federal) | FINTRAC | Complies with Canadian anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing requirements applicable to money services businesses, including client verification, record keeping and reporting obligations. |
| Ontario | OSC | Complies with Ontario securities legislation and applicable registration requirements relevant to crypto asset trading activity. |
| Québec | AMF | Complies with Québec securities legislation and applicable requirements relevant to crypto asset trading activity. |
| British Columbia | BCSC | Complies with British Columbia securities legislation and applicable requirements relevant to crypto asset trading activity. |
| Alberta | ASC | Complies with Alberta securities legislation and applicable requirements relevant to crypto asset trading activity. |
| Other provinces and territories | Applicable provincial and territorial regulators | Complies with the securities and crypto asset trading requirements applicable in each jurisdiction where services are provided. |
The table names the frameworks that apply to the services the platform provides. It is not a claim of registration status with any body; registration details, where they exist, are confirmed with the relevant provider on request.
AML and the fight against financial crime
VestAccrue maintains an AML/ATF (anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing) program that includes client verification, transaction monitoring, record keeping, mandatory reporting to regulators, and mechanisms to counter financial crime. The program is reviewed regularly and updated as Canadian requirements evolve.
Obligations applicable to money services businesses
For the services it provides, the company meets the requirements applicable to registered money services businesses in Canada under the federal framework administered by FINTRAC, including client identification, record keeping and suspicious transaction reporting obligations. Verification steps you experience when opening an account, such as document checks, exist because of these obligations; the full policy is on the AML / KYC page.
CIRO and crypto asset trading platforms
The company's internal control system takes into account the requirements applicable to regulated crypto asset trading platforms in Canada, including the relevant Investment Dealer requirements administered by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), as well as the requirements of provincial and territorial securities regulators named in the table above. Where a specific service requires a registration we do not hold, that service is provided through an appropriately registered third party, and this is disclosed to the client before onboarding.
Transparency about regulation
VestAccrue strives to maintain the registrations, permissions and compliance procedures provided for by the services it offers in each relevant jurisdiction, and to describe them accurately on this page. Two things we will never do: inflate our status with claims this page does not support, or use regulation as a promise of performance.
Regulation does not eliminate investment risk and does not assure profit. Digital assets are subject to market volatility and other risks described on the Risk Disclosure page. Cash and securities coverage frameworks such as CDIC and CIPF have their own scope and limits, and crypto assets are generally outside them; see Security for details. If anything on this page raises a question, ask us at [email protected] before you deposit, not after.
